Pre-Event...Turn and Burn

Postby Zoomy » Fri Jul 30, 2010 8:19 am

Thought I'd better start a new thread so that Josh's doesn't keep getting hijacked. Anyway, if you've been following the banter floating around...yes the course looks to be fast (within reason obviously) with some elements that will leave you wondering how to best adjust your speed, line, and braking in order to set up for the upcoming element, and the same also applies coming out of an element in order to take advantage of acceleration points. I designed the course to be fast to sort of prep those that will be venturing to Loring to get use to slightly higher overall course speeds.

For fun-sake I challenge everyone to come up with a fighter pilot call sign similar in nature to what you've seen on the movie Top Gun...keep in mind your own character and how it ties in with the car you will be driving. Perhaps as part of registration you can list your name along with your call sign.

I think I'll go with "Sol-Low"...sort of a take on words because my car is low and also reminiscent of Hans Solo and the Milennium Falcon which could accelerate like crazy. :D

Are you forgetting that it's also the name of the sport we are participating in?

Aw, I was going to be Lightning, since we'll be running the Miata and it has lightning bolts on it! :) So, how about Sparky? A reference to both the lightning bolts and my ham radio hobby.

I've got one for Pam: Novice. 8)

well, at the moment, my call sign will be "pissed"... corrado will 99% NOT be making it...

just went to finish the lsd install... prep to press ring gear on diff... check bolts... bolts don't fit in holes.. wait a moment... bolts don't fit in holes??? bolts don't fit in holes!!!! yeah... gee.. awfully glad i specified the transmission date-code in the order notes.. since that is what distinguishes the hole size for the ring gear bolts...

i'm pissed... really wanted this up & going for the rallyx/turn & burn... but it's not looking like it will happen right now...

ok.. rant over... maybe i will come anyway, with the forester.. that should be fun :( :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I've requested that a map of the course not be available for public eyes. Sometimes, not always, people may get an unfavorable impression of a course prior to driving it and thus may make the decision to not show up at the event. Of course it could work in the opposite manner as well. Hint: the name of the event also mimics the course layout.

So is your "fighter pilot" call sign going to be "BUGS"?
